Virginia R. Linton, 84, of Crawfordsville, IN. died at her residence 5:15 PM Sunday February 28, 2010. Born in Danville, IL. July 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Cora Lewis Sweet, she was raised on a farm near Danville, and moved to Covington, IN. in 1937, where she graduated from Covington High School and was a member of the Hoosier Sweethearts, a quartet in which she played the accordian. After high school, she worked in a law office as a secretary, and also served as a court clerk. Her marriage was to Charles Russell Linton at Covington, IN. March 11, 1944, and he preceded her in death December 13, 2008. Mrs. Linton was a homemaker, and also worked as a bookkeeper at the New Richmond Farm Supply for a number of years. She retired with her husband in 1983, and they traveled in their motor home with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Linton was a member of the Woodlawn Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville, IN. Surviving is a daughter, Valerie Ann Linton of Crawfordsville, IN.; 3 sons, Stephen R. Linton (wife Cindy) of Wooster, OH.; Jeffrey C. Linton of Lafayette, IN. Gregory L. Linton (wife Kim) of Knoxville, TN. and a brother, Virgil Sweet of Belleair Bluffs, FL. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Randall Linton and a daughter, Deanna Booher, a sister Nila Craig and a brother Loren Sweet. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Linden, from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. Funeral service at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME 2:00 PM Friday, Mr. Thomas Cash officiating.
