Thomas Joseph Hausladen 77, of Lafayette, passed away at his residence in Lafayette 2:00 PM Saturday June 3, 2017. He was born in West Union, Iowa January 20, 1940, the son of the late Anton and Theresa Kraemer Hausladen. Tom was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterloo, Iowa and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He married Phyllis A. Van Dorn in Waterloo, Iowa June 9, 1962 and she survives. Tom was employed by J. C. Penney as a retail manager from 1962 until he retired in 1986. He then went to work for Dictograph Security/ Mulhaupt’s as sales manager from 1986 until his retirement in 2003. In 1997 and in 1998, he received the #1 Salesman of the Year award from Dictograph Security Systems. Tom was a memer of St. Mary Cathedral; a member and past president of the Lafayette Serra Club; served as District Governor and Regional Director of the Serran’s and recently received the award as a “Face of Serra”. He served as the voice of the Central Catholic Knights sporting events for 27 years. Tom enjoyed high school sporting events, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Surviving with his wife are five daughters, Ann Marie McDonnell (husband James) of Pikeville, KY; Theresa Walters (husband James) of Zionsville, IN; Virginia Huycke (husband Jason) of Lafayette, IN; Dorothy Teusch (husband Joe) of Brownsburg, IN; Tammy Scrivner (husband Josh) of Parker, CO; by three sons, Anthony Hausladen of Lafayette, IN; Rev. Father Robert Hausladen of Indianapolis, IN and Michael Hausladen (wife Laura) of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are two sisters, Germaine Hausladen of Iowa and LaVonne Wayne (husband Frank) of New York along with 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Phyllis Scrivner. Friends may call at St. Mary Cathedral from 5 until 7 PM Wednesday June 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Cathedral 10:00 AM Thursday, Fr. Robert Hausladen officiating, with interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1401 Mickley Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46241.
