Thelma L. Graves, 89, of Ambia, IN. died at Green Hill Manor in Fowler, IN. 7:38 AM Friday August 31, 2012 where she had been a resident the past 5 years. Thelma was born in Adolphus, KY. December 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Herschel Harrison and K Wygal Hinton. She married Harold Leon Graves in Kentucky April 25, 1942, and he preceded her in death July 24, 2003.
Thelma was a graduate of Paducha, KY High School; a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church; the Order of Eastern Star Chapter of Boswell, IN.; the Ladies Aid of the Ambia Christian Church and a member of the Ambia Home Ec Club as well as being a homemaker.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Katie Graves Butts (husband Bruce) of Ambia, IN.; Charlotte Graves Meredith (husband Stan) of Oxford, IN.; Patti Graves Looker (husband Joe) of Clayton, IN.; 2 sons, Leon Graves (wife Pat) of Danville, IL.; Herschel Thomas Graves (wife Karen K.) of Boswell, IN.; a sister Naomi Jarrett (husband Reed) of Hibbing, MN.; and a brother -in-law, Joseph Atkinson of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Becky Bradford; a son, Rickey Jo Graves and a sister, Norma Atkinson.
Friends may call from 9:30 AM until the service at 11:00 AM Tuesday Sept. 4 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating, with interment following in Boswell Cemetery.
