Stephen Leinberger

June 16, 1948 — January 5, 2009

Stephen Thomas Leinberger, 60, of Oxford, IN. died at his residence 6:10 P.M. Monday January 5, 2009. He had been ill the past 8 months with cancer. Born June 16, 1948, the son of Theodore Karl Leinberger, Sr., and the late Gerladine (nee Whitus) Leinberger, he was a 1966 graduate of Oxford High School. Mr. Leinberger worked as an extrusion operator and crane operator at the Alcoa works in Lafayette for over 25 years, retiring in 1996. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Oxford, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the US Army from 1968 until 1970 during the Viet Nam War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Surviving with his father are 3 daughters, Jennifer Williams (husband Steve) of Danville, IL.; Katie Latta of Oxford, IN.; Paij Leinberger of Lafayette, IN.; 2 sons, John Inman (wife Janice) of Monticello, IN.; Clayton of Lafayette, IN.; a brother, Doug Leinberger of California.; and 4 sisters, Tari Alper of Lafayette, IN.; Christina Noble of Otterbein, IN.; Jeanie Masterson (husband Edward) of Oxford, IN. and Victoria Stetler (husband Mick) of Templeton, IN. Also surviving is his fiancAC., Pauline Anderson of Pine Village, IN.; and 2 grandchildren, Myron and Steven Williams along with 34 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, William and Mattie Whitus, and a brother Theodore K.
