Shirley Anne Stanfield, 82, of Lafayette, died at her residence 5:30 AM Saturday May 7, 2011. Mrs. Stanfield had been ill the past two and a half years. She was born in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of the late Jacob and Ruth L. Walters Huber, Jr. and was a 1947 graduate of Evanston,( IL.) High School. Her marriage was to Robert L. Stanfield, Sr. at Chicago, IL. May 6, 1949, and he survives. Mrs. Stanfield had formerly worked at GTE for a number of years, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and did volunteer work with St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. Mrs. Stanfield was also a member of the Lafayette Women's Bowling Association and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with her family. Surviving with her husband is a son, Robert L. Stanfield, Jr. (wife Barbara) of Warren, IN.; 2 daughters, Kathleen Parker (husband Thomas) of Lafayette, IN. and Barbara A. Rogers (husband Kenneth) of Plano, TX. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Flynn. Friends may call from the Rosary at 4:45 until 7 PM Wednesday at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, St. Mary's Cathedral, Fr. Paul M. Graf officiating, with entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
