Shirley Ann Emge, 75, of Lafayette, died at Franciscan Health, St. Elizabeth East at 10:41 AM Saturday August 6, 2011, where she had been a patient since Wednesday. Mrs. Emge was born in Detroit, Michigan May 16, 1936, the daughter of the late Herman George and Edna Delores Strain Farrand, and had resided in Lafayette since 1970. She married Joseph Edward Emge in Lafayette, IN. May 18, 1972, and he preceded her in death April 20, 2007. Mrs. Emge was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge 796; Eagles Ladies Auxiliary # 347; American Legion Auxiliary Post 11, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 1154. She had operated a day care center in her home for 24 years, and had previously worked for National Homes. Surviving is a daughter, Pamela Jo Strain of Terre Haute, IN.; 3 sons, Michael Bryan Parks of Arizona; Jerry D. Parks of Lafayette, IN.; and Garry Lee Parks of Indiana; 2 brothers, Ronald R. Farrand (wife Pamela) and Randy Keith Farrand (wife Cynthia) both of Terre Haute, IN.; and by 1 sister, Linda Sue Thomas (husband Sam) of Terre Haute, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 11 AM until the service at Noon Saturday, Pastor Kim Dickens officiating, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
