Sara Elisabeth (Moyer) Donnoe, 80, of Carmel, IN and formerly of Lafayette, passed away at The Stratford in Carmel, IN Saturday December 18, 2021. She was born in Lafayette, IN September 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary M. (Gick) Moyer. Sara was a graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School and Purdue University, where she was a home economics major. She married Roy E. Donnoe at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette June 15, 1963 and he survives. Sara loved being a teacher and taught many grades including starting the first kindergarten class at St. Patrick’s grade school in Washington, IL. She enjoyed many years working as a substitute teacher around Raleigh, N.C. and prided herself on being known as the one to call with tough kids. Sara led a 4-H group for many years and introduced many children to cooking, sewing, gardening and even showing cattle. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed sewing for many years. Sara learned to knit while living in Scotland. She owned a chocolate shop, Sara’s Sweet Shoppe, and taught candy making classes. Sara enjoyed traveling with her husband, Roy visiting Rome, Belgium, Scotland, England, Germany and Hawaii over the years. Her Catholic Faith was important to her and she spent time praying for many. Surviving along with her husband are three daughters, Karen E. Patterson (John A.) of Fishers, IN; Theresa Ann Green (E. Casey) of Plano, TX; Sheila Kay Patterson (Patrick) of Savoy, IL and by one son, Brian Edward Donnoe of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving is a sister, Judy “Jude” Roberson (Eric) of Wilmington, DE and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Marshall and a brother, Tom Moyer. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Friday January 7, 2022, Fr. Dennis Faker officiating. The interment service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday Jan. 7, 2022 in Oxford Catholic Cemetery, Oxford, IN. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home of Lafayette is honored to serve the Donnoe family.
