Ruth Mae Condra, 88, of Lafayette, formerly of Oxford, IN. died 8:10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette. She was born May 21, 1920 in Oxford, IN. to the late Jasper Ancil and Edith Cooper Gwin. She moved from Oxford to Lafayette in 1975. She married Bruce Everett Condra in 1949 at Oxford and he preceded her in death in 1958. Mrs. Condra graduated from Oxford High School and had worked as a legal secretary for Bob Smalley and later for Hoffman & Melichar Law Firm. She then worked for National Homes and also Purdue Ag. Economics Dept. until retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, and had served as one of the church organists for 35 years. Mrs. Condra was a member of and past Worthy Matron of the former Oak Chapter 128, Order of Eastern Star, now the Beaulah Chapter, and was a charter member of the Musette Musical Club; along with being a member of the AARP and Lafayette Senior Citizens.
Surviving is a son, Donald R. Condra (wife:Barb) of West Lafayette and a step-daughter, Barbara Condra Baer of Wabash, IN. Also surviving are 2 grandsons, John & Max Condra of West Lafayette, a brother-in-law, George Cross and a niece, Susan Price. Preceded in death by her sister, Jean Cross.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM Friday at the Oxford United Methodist Church, Rev. Linda Sproull officiating. Interment will follow in Oxford West Cemetery.
