RoseMarie “Rita” Risch, 100 years of age, of Lafayette, IN. passed away February 20, 2023 at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette. RoseMarie was born in Beech Grove, IN and was a graduate of Remington High School in Remington, IN class of 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo F. and Louise O. (Sigo) Risch, her brother, Eugene C. “Sheik” Risch and sister-in-law Milly Risch. She worked at the Remington Theatre as a teenager and moved to Lafayette, IN following graduation from high school. She worked for the Alcoa Company and retired from the National Homes Corporation after 45 years of service in the departments of accounting and human resources. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and a proud, diehard fan of the University of Notre Dame. RoseMarie was an avid reader, making many weekly trips to the library and as a historian of family records she kept and organized hundreds of family photos from past decades. Following retirement, she became active as a hospital volunteer driving many people needing transportation to doctor’s offices, clinics and treatment centers. She loved to travel, loved all animals, horse racing and the casinos. The highlight of her 95th birthday was a trip to Las Vegas with her two closet friends. In addition to her immediate family, she treasured her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and her many friends. She would keep in touch with all of them by faithfully sending letters, holiday cards, recognizing weddings, births, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and special occasions. She is survived by her brother Maurice L. “Maury” Risch, niece Nancy (Risch) Peinado and nephews Mark and Mike Risch, and great nephews Alex Peinado, Matt and Brennen Risch, great nieces Samantha Peinado, Zoe, Ava, Mia and Aliece Risch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette on Friday March 3 at 11:00 AM. , with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Remington, IN at 3:00 PM Friday.
