Robert Lee Lanie, 69, of Lafayette, was found deceased at his residence Monday April 21, 2014. Robert was born in Lafayette November 14, 1944, the son of the late Francis L. “Frank” and Frances E. Plaster Lanie. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School and attended electrical trade school in Indianapolis, IN. Robert worked for Suburban TV and later was employed at Duncan Meter for 30 years before retiring. He served in the US Army from 1963 until 1966 during the Viet Nam War; was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and American Legion Post 57 of Fowler, IN. Surviving is a brother, Kenneth Lanie (wife Janet) of Lafayette; a sister, Rita Lanie of Oxford, IN.; three nieces, Jannette Laudeman (Scott), Joanna Lewis (Matt) Julia Sears (David); by two nephews, Alvin and Wesley Guffey and by ten great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a niece, Christine Guffey. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from the Rosary at 4:45 until 7:00 PM Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Cathedral 10:00 AM Friday, Fr. George Plaster, celebrant with Fr. Jeff Martin and Fr. Robert Klemme, concelebrants officiating. The interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 11. If friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Mary Cathedral or the charity of the donor’s choice.
