Robert Jones

Robert Eugene Jones, 77, of Oxford, IN. died at his residence suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 14, 2008, but had been in failing health the past 8 years. Born in Oxford, IN. September 6, 1931, the son of the late John Milton and Alta Jane McDade Jones, he was class valedictorian and graduate of Oxford High School in 1949. Mr. Jones married Leona J. Moyars at Swanington, IN. July 22, 1951, and she survives.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ. Mr. Jones had worked for the former Oxford Oil Co., and later Fowler Bottled Gas for 42 years as a semi-truck driver. Surviving beside his wife is a daughter, Sheryl J. McMillan (husband Paul) of Oxford, IN.; and 2 sons, Stanley Jones (wife Patti) of Ft. Worth Texas and Stuart Jones (Brenda) of Oxford, IN. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Adam, Lani, Kelsey and Cara Jones and Patrick and Conner McMillan. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raymond & Kenneth Jones and 2 sisters, Lois Jones & Helen Roudebush. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford Chapel from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. Funeral services at the Oxford Church of Christ 10:30 AM Friday, Larry McMillan officiating. Interment Justus Cemetery.
