Robert Hanson
August 26, 1921 — January 19, 2012
Robert M. Hanson, age 90, of Lafayette, died at his residence at Rosewalk Commons at 8:55 PM Thursday January 19, 2012. Robert was born in Kathryn, North Dakota August 26, 1921, the son of the late Thor and Anne Thoreson Hanson, both imigrants from Oslo, Norway. He was educated in North Dakota, and attended Purdue University.
Robert enlisted in the Navy during World War II, and was shipped to West Lafayette to attend Purdue. There he met Virginia A. Baudendistel, whom he married October 2, 1942. Virginia preceded him in death March 10, 2007.
He was a master electrician, working for Duncan Electric, Brown Rubber, Wolover Electric, L.A. Thise Co., the city of Lafayette, Welsbch of Indianapolis and Purdue University.
Surviving are 2 nieces, Shirley E. Relander of Carmel, IN. and Marjorie L. Hirschinger (husband George "Ed") of Leesburg, FL. Also surviving are special friends, Dennis and Ann Fassnacht of West Lafayette, IN. He was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St. from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM Tuesday, Fr. Tim Alkire officiating, with interment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with military rites.
