Robert W. "Bob" Bloyd, 78
Robert W. "Bob" Bloyd, 78, of West Lafayette died 2:00 AM Monday, November 23, 2009 at Home Hospital. Prior to moving to West Lafayette in 1985, he lived in Battleground. He was born March 5, 1931 in Battleground to the late Irvin Bloyd and Orpha Culver Bloyd. He graduated from Battleground High School in 1949. He married Mary Maxine Crowe in Lafayette and she survives. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bloyd was a machine operator for Ross Gear/ TRW for 44yrs until his retirement in 1993. He was a Life Member of VFW Post # 1154 and a member of 40&8 Voiture 364 and American Legion Post # 492. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Kae Smith (hus. Mark) of West Lafayette & Bonnie King (hus. Don) of Lafayette, two brothers, Edd Bloyd (wife: Donna) of Battleground & Lee Bloyd of Lafayette, two sisters, Luella Hughes & Sarah Mitchell (hus. Kenton) both of Lafayette.
Friends may call from noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME Lafayette, IN with Pastor Kenny Loehe officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with military rites by American Legion Post #492. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. His 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild were all very special to him. Preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lester, John , Dewey Bloyd & a sister, Bonnie Lucas.
