Richard Switzer, Jr.

Richard Lex Switzer, Jr., age 65, of Oxford, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital Emergency Room Sunday afternoon January 14, 2018 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Benton County. Richard was born in Lafayette February 6, 1952 the son of Margaret Burk Coffman and the late Richard Lex Switzer, Sr. He was a graduate of Killeen, Texas High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. Richard was employed at Wabash National the past 24 years as a press operator; was a member of American Legion Post 11 of Lafayette and enjoyed playing poker and watching all kinds of sports. Surviving are two daughters, Regon L. Zimmerman (Chris) of Gaylord, MI; Erin Evans (Ben) of Midland, MI; a son, Jeremy H. Switzer (Julie) of Hinnerup, Denmark; his mother, Margaret Coffman of Lafayette; three brothers, Jon Coffman of Lafayette, IN; Andy Coffman (Tina) of Oxford, IN; Cory Coffman of Fowler, IN; a sister Susan Gogal of Everette, WA and by his life partner, Mary Lou McGuire of Oxford. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Carson, Brooke, Abigayle, Annabel and Zoe. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Switzer. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from 12:00 PM until the service at 1:00 PM Monday January 22, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating, Interment will follow in Justus Cemetery with American Legion Post 11 military rites.
