Richard Lee Sutton, 66, of Linden, IN. died unexpectedly Thursday August 15, 2013 at Franciscan Health, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville at 3:58 PM. Richard wos born in Lafayette, IN. May 30, 1947, the son of the late David D. and Genevieve M. Smith Sutton, and was a 1965 graduate of Linden High School. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion and the Darlington Conservation Club. Richard was a co-owner and operator of the R & S Cafe in Linden with his companion of 25 years, Sue Hill.
Surviving with his companion is a daughter, Rachel Marie Sutton of Mesquite, TX.; four brothers, Leroy Sutton (wife Brenda) of Half-way, Mo.; Bill Sutton of Johnson City, TN.; Bob Sutton (wife Teresa) of Ft. Wayne, IN.; Mike Sutton (wife Becky) of Greenwood, IN.; five sisters, Pat Claybaugh (husband Carl) of Mission, TX.; Janice Kiger (husband Gerald) of Linden, IN.; Judy Van Meter (husband Gerald) of Corydon, IN.; Connie Goff (husband Dale) of Rockville, IN.; and Debbie Potter (companion David) of Crawfordsville, IN. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Sarah Tandy and Andrew Sutton; and a great-granddaughter, Kaeliegh Tandy. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Sutton, II; a daughter, Genetta Sutton, and a sister, Ilene McCormick.
A memorial gathering will be held at the R & S Cafe Saturday Aug. 24 at 1:00 PM, Rev. Steve Padgett officiating.
