Richard V. Phillips, 86, of Lafayette, died at Signature Halthcare Center in Lafayette Saturday December 28, 2013 at 9:30 P.M. Richard was born in Tippecanoe County, IN. December 7, 1927, the son of the late Clyde and Clara Mugg Phillips and was a lifelong Tippecanoe County resident. He was a graduate of Battle Ground High School, and had been employed at Landis-Gyr from 1946 until he retired in 1989 as a supervisor and foreman. Richard married Phyllis Bolyard at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette August. 30, 1947, and she survives. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette and also the Eagles. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Claudia Burgess (husband Terry) of Roanoke, AL., two grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and an infant sister. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Friday in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating. Entombment will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
