Richard Clark "Dick" Douthit, 75, of West Lafayette, died 6:26 P.M. Tuesday August 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Central Emergency Room. Mr. Douthit was born August 19, 1933 in Lafayette, IN., to the late Chester A. and Lorene Sutherland Douthit and was a graduate of Klondike High School in 1952. He married Evelyn Margaret Buck in Lafayette August 14, 1966, and she survives. Mr. Douthit had been employed as a member services representative at TipMont REMC 22 years, retiring in 1996 and previously managed the Mars Theatre in Lafayette for 17 years. He served in the US Air Force from 1952 until 1956, being stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, and also was stationed at the Atomic Proving Grounds in the South Pacific. Surviving beside his wife is a daughter, Deborah A. Johnson (husband Matthew) of West Lafayette, IN; 2 sons, Richard A. Douthit (wife Joyce) of Plainfield, IN.; William A. Douthit (wife Jennifer) of West Lafayette, IN.; and a brother, Jack A. Douthit of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Lucas Johnson; Anna, Sam and Conner Douthit. Preceded in death by a sister Marilyn Douthit. Private family services will be held at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, Pastor Tim Depue officiating. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 11.
