Richard A. “Dick” Bol, 74, of Shadeland, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette Monday November 29, 2021 at 6:40 PM where he had been a patient the past five weeks. He was born in Lafayette January 8, 1947, the son of the late Benjamin G. and Mildred G. “Milly” (Goris) Bol. Richard was a graduate of Southwestern High School and the Nashville Auto Diesel College. He married Roslynn A. Matney in Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette August 2, 1969, and she survives. Richard was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church for 51 years where he served as an elder, trustee and usher. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Shadeland Fire Department for 38 years, was a member of the West Point Lions Club for 26 years and was a member of both the Lafayette and Star City Corvette Clubs. Richard liked to go camping, attending car shows and loved his dog, Ellie. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War, and had retired from Purdue University after 19 years, working at Tarkington Hall in maintenance. Surviving beside his wife are two sons, Benjamin H. Bol (wife Kelly) and Richard Allen Bol II, all of Shadeland, along with two grandsons, Jonathan and Austin. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Lafayette from 5:00 PM until the Fireman’s Last Alarm Service at 6:45 PM Friday Dec. 3. The body will lie in state from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM Saturday December 4 in Central Presbyterian Church of Lafayette, Pastor Lucia Oerter and Pastor William Reinowski officiating.
