Rev. Bennett L. Howse, 103, of Lewis, IN. , formerly of Terre Haute, IN. and most recently of Lafayette, IN. died at Mulberry Health and Retirement Center in Mulberry, IN. 6:36 AM Saturday April 23, 2011. He had resided the past six and a half years with his son, Pastor Les Lee, of Lafayette. Rev. Howse was born in Magnetawan, Canada June 7, 1907, the son of the late George and Margaret Howse. He moved from Canada at the age of 12 to Hilton, New York where he finished grade school and attended high school in Rochester, New York. Rev. Howse attended Bible college in Los Angeles, CA. graduating in 1928. He started his career of preaching, establishing churches that are still existing today, starting in El Centro, CA.; Syracuse, NY.; Covington, KY.; Chappell, NE.; Ashland, KS.; Taft, CA.; Garden Grove, CA.; Wooster, OH.; Urbana, IL.; Newton, IA.; Minneapolis, MN.; Terre Haute, IN. for many years and lastly, after retirement, a term at Briley Chapel in Lewis, IN. He married Jane D. Mosher at Dayton, OH. December 7, 1930, and she preceded him in death November 16, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Les Lee (wife Sandra) of Lafayette, IN. and Rev. Daniel Howse (wife Donna) of Thousand Palm, CA.; and a sister, Mary Struckoff of Orville, CA. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Ellen Jane at an early age and Margaret "Peggy" Nicholls; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 Springhill Drive, Terre Haute from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM Friday. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute.
