Rebecca S. (Perkins) Vandeveer, 73, of Oxford, passed away suddenly on July 25, 2023. Rebecca was born on January 24, 1950, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Floyd Leroy Perkins and Wanda Maxine (Leuck) Perkins. Rebecca graduated in the class of 1968 from Oxford High School. On January 24, 1970, Rebecca wed Felix C. “Butch” Vandeveer, Jr. at the Oxford United Methodist Church; Butch preceded his wife in death on October 7, 2020.
Rebecca worked in banking her entire career with her most recent position being the vice president of Farmers and Merchants Bank; she retired on December 31, 2014, with nearly 25 years of dedicated service to the bank.
A dedicated member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, Rebecca was active in her church in Sunday school classes, as well as the Prayer Warriors. She was active in her local Tri Kappa chapter, especially during Dan Patch Days. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoyed volunteering at the Oxford Heritage House, Pine Creek Camp, and Dollars for Scholars. With an incredibly selfless heart, Rebecca was known for assisting others in the community in whatever capacity she could. She loved her family and was sure to attend every grandchild's event possible.
Survivors include her three sons, Matthew W. Vandeveer (significant other, Rebecca Hinterlong) of Oxford, IN., Todd M. Vandeveer (spouse, Meredith) of Wolcott, IN., and Corey L. Vandeveer (spouse, Sara) of Rock Island, TN.; her six grandchildren, Blayne, Tyler, Ethan, Dylan, Madelynn, and Blake; her sister, Cheryl Winger (spouse, Larry) of Boswell, IN. and brother, Gary Perkins of Earl Park, IN.
Rebecca was preceded in death by both parents and her husband.
Friends and family may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford, IN. on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Oxford United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Sproull officiating. An additional hour of calling will be held Monday morning prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Oxford West Cemetery, where Rebecca will be laid to rest next to Butch. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rebecca’s memory to the Oxford United Methodist Church or the Oxford Heritage House.
