Raymond Brown

Raymond Brown, 89, of Lafayette, died at Clarian Arnett Hospital 11:52 P.M. Monday February 1, 2010 where he had been a patient since Friday. Born in Rensselaer, IN. August 22, 1920, the son of the late Grover and Marie Barkley Brown, he graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1938, and moved to Lafayette in 1948. He married Helen Jarvis at Remington, IN. July 4, 1944, and she preceded him in death September 6, 2005. Mr. Brown was an electrician for the IBEW, recently receiving his 60 year pin, and was employed by Square Deal Electric, Swanson-Nunn and Long Electric, working in many of the large plants and business in Lafayette. After his retirement, he drove automobiles for the Indianapolis Car Exchange. Mr. Brown was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Country Promenaders Square Dance Club, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are 3 daughters, Karen Martin (husband Mike) of Carmel, IN.; Sandra Burns (husband Curtis) of Brownsburg, IN.; and Janet K. Wilcox of Lafayette, IN.; 2 sisters, Charlotte Brock of Bremen, IN. and Arlene Brown of Merrillville, IN. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Scott and Brian Martin; Casey Burns and Andrea Glass; Derek, Aaron and Matt Brown; Christa Wendling; Hilary Wible; Ryan Wilcox and Tiffany Bramer; 16 great-grandchildren, Courtney and Alexa Martin; Benjamin and Margaret Martin; Ryan, Taylor and Hayden Glass; Austin, Eli, Issac and Thadd Brown; Huxley Wendling; Lili Wible, Robby and Luke Wilcox and Molly Bramer. Preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Ann Brown and a son, Steve R. Brown. Friends may call from the Rosary at 4:45 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday (EST) at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 A.M. Friday, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Father Eric Underwood,Celebrant and Father Dan Gartland, Con-celebrant officiating. Graveside service 2:30 P.M. (EST) Friday, Mt.
