Phyllis Thayer

Phyllis Madge Thayer, 92, of Lafayette and formerly of New Richmond, IN died at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette 3:02 PM Sunday January 17, 2016. Mrs. Thayer was born in Clarks Hill, IN December 20, 1923, the daughter of the late Lora and Lola Edna Parker McGuire and was a 1942 graduate of New Richmond, High School. She married Richard C. Thayer at New Richmond June 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1971. Phyllis had been employed as a cook at the Holiday Inn in Crawfordsville and had also worked in the housekeeping department at the former Lafayette Home Hospital. She attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lafayette, and was a former member of the Christian Church of New Richmond where she had played the piano and organ. Surviving are three daughters, Sue Ann Foster, Carol Thayer and Cindy L. Thayer, all of Lafayette; three sons, Richard A. Thayer (wife Barb) of Bloomington, IN; Roger L. Thayer of Crawfordsville and Jeff Thayer (friend Theresa) of Bloomington, IN. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM Thursday January 21 at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden, IN, Pastor Jaime Delgado officiating.
