Phyllis Ann Greene

Phyllis Ann Greene, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully Monday, February 3, 2025 at Five Star Residences in Lafayette. She was born in Lafayette, August 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Manford A. and Helen A. (Nichols) Lawson.

Phyllis retired from the purchasing department at Purdue University. She loved traveling, and never passed up a road trip, especially for her family. Family was paramount to her, and she embodied a giving spirit that touched the lives of many. Her warm demeanor and social nature allowed her to form lasting friendships, especially as a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, where she actively participated in the community with her servant heart.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Michael R. Greene (Debbie); her daughters, Patrice Newton (Dennis) and Theresa DeLion (David); and her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Rice, Karen Nelson, Bradley Greene, David DeLion, Troy Greene, Ryan Newton, Jason DeLion, Phillip DeLion, Catherine Graves, Stacy Robinson, Krisztina Moore, Allison O'Connor, and Matthew Newton. She was also the proud grandmother of 26 great-grandkids, and 5 great-great grandkids, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thomas Greene, who passed away in 1992; her brother, Manford O. Lawson; and her step-brother, David Riehle.

The Rosary will be held at 9:45 AM Monday February 10, 2025 with visitation from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Monday, all at St. Mary Cathedral, Fr. Ted Dudzinski officiating. The interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery in Lafayette. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
