Patricia Ann (Chastain) Scott of Oxford, IN joined the angels early on the morning of October 4, 2019 at her home. Born on a farm outside Oxford on October 7, 1930 to Clint and Stella (Gilstrap) Chastain, she lived her entire life in or near Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1948. Pat was married on June 12, 1948 in Fowler, IN. She is survived by he loving and devoted husband of 71 years, Jerry, and sons Greg (Cathy) and Jeff (Bertie). Perhaps most important in her life were her grandchildren, Chris (Jaclyn), Matt, Shad (Dina), Casey (Jon) and Clint, her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Lucas and Oscar, step-grandson, Rich (Cyndy) and step-great-grandchildren, Carson and Jenny, along with many nieces, nephews and their children, all of which were part of her family. Mom was always there for any events and activities of her extended family, whether sports, school or social (attending more weddings than a preacher!). She loved to dance with Dad, search for shells on the Florida and Hawaii beaches and have no holds barred Scrabble games with the family with jabs at each other being the rule. One of seven children, (Bud, Irene, Nobie, Bethel, Loral and Hilda Jean), only Hilda Jean survives. Special thanks to the local Lecher nieces, Shirley, Sharon and Sara for all they have done through the years and especially during her more recent health troubles. Many other relatives and friends have also been so kind and we will try to thank all of them personally. This is the great award of having lived in a small town for life. Mom was kind and thoughtful to all. Among her last words were: I have a wonderful family. Her faith in God was her strength. She will be greatly missed by all, but our consolation will be all the fond memories. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Oxford from 9:30 AM until the memorial service at 10:30 AM Saturday October 12. Interment will take place in Oxford West Cemetery. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospice. Memories and condolences may be left at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com
