Max D. Perry, 79, of West Lafayette, and formerly of Delphi, died at the Indiana Veterans Home 3:30 A.M. Thursday August 21, 2008, where he had been a patient since December, 2007. Born in Chalmers, IN. November 9, 1928, the son of the late Mark and Mildred Fleener Perry, he attended White County Schools. Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Army from 1947 until 1949, and had worked as a truck driver for Nightway Transportation for 35 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Delphi, the American Legion at Camden, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delphi. He loved fishing and traveling to England and Scotland. Surviving are 2 daughters, Maxine Whitus (husband Danny) of Lafayette; Elaine Ledman of Delphi; a son, Edwin O. Perry of Lafayette; a brother, Robert Perry (wife Judy) of Rockfield, IN.; and 4 sisters, Norma Dowden (husband Jim) of Reynolds, IN.; Shirley Hughes of Monticello, IN.; Joyce Jenkins (husband Chuck) of Monticello, IN.; and Jeannie Randle of Royal Center, IN.
Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St. from 12:00 Noon until the service at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Father Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren. Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sabrina Gregg, 2 sisters, Sharon Clark and Evelyn Ellis, and by 2 brothers, Gordon and Bill Perry.
