Maryella Bower

Maryella Bower, 89, of Lafayette, IN. died at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette 11:05 PM Friday April 15, 2011 where she had been a patient for the past 7 years. Mrs. Bower was born in Lafayette January 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Hicks Hatke, and was a lifelong Lafayette resident, attending St. Boniface Grade School and graduating from St. Francis High School in 1941. She worked for GTE for 23 years, and later Lafayette Dental Lab for 23 years, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Bower was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Ladies Sodality, St. Elizabeth Medical Center Auxiliary, Eagles Lodge #347 Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Auxiliary. Surviving is a sister, Carol Dillard (husband Jack) of Newburgh, IN.; and 2 brothers, Stanley Hatke (wife Rosemary) of Crawfordsville, IN., and Donald Hatke (wife Margaret) of Greenfield, IN. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Anne Hatke, a niece and caretaker, Diana Simpson, along with several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, W.G. "Bill" Hatke. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from the Rosary at 4:45 until 7 PM Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Wednesday, St. Boniface Church, Fr.
