Lafayette, IN

Mary Margaret “Margie” Wilson Margie Wilson passed away on June 29, 2019, age 93, leaving behind a legacy of a life filled with family, faith and friends. Margie was born on July 4, 1925 in Connersville, Indiana to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Moritz) Mancini. Margie was one of 4 siblings, Peter, Rosemary Youmans and Lenora Bogardus. She attended St. Gabriel Elementary and Connersville High School, where she was the valedictorian of her 1943 graduating class. Between high school and college she worked riveting airplane wings for World War II. Unknown to her at the time, her future husband was flying those planes over Europe. At Purdue University she majored in mathematics, was the first woman editor of the Debris Yearbook and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. While attending Purdue, she met Raymond Wilson of West Lafayette. After her graduation from Purdue, Margie worked at RCA in Indianapolis until she and Ray married on June 17, 1950. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together. Mother of four: Kurt (Deb) Wilson, Beth (Greg) Delaney, Craig Wilson, Steve (Cindy) Wilson and niece Melissa (Charles) Jaco. Grandmother of five: Nicholas (Carley) Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Michael Delaney, Bryan (Deirdre) Delaney, and Kathleen (Ben) Richard. Great-grandmother of two: James Wilson and John Wilson. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Peter Mancini, Rosemary Youmans, husband Ray and son Craig. Margie was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Lawrence, and later St. Mary’s parishes. She loved her family, the cottage at Lake James, ice cream cones, Chi Omega bridge club, and the many winters spent in Arizona and Florida with Ray. Margie was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a loving wife and mother who routinely put others before her herself. She will be remembered for her strength, thoughtfulness, sweet and caring personality. She will be greatly missed.
