Mary Loepker

Mary Ann (Peterson) Loepker of 528 South 9th Street, Lafayette, Indiana passed into eternal life on Saturday October 6, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born July 7, 1932 in Lafayette to Russell and Irene (Klinker) Peterson. Mary Ann graduated from St. Boniface Grade School and St. Francis High School. She married Isadore (Izzy) Loepker at St Boniface Church on May 26, 1951. Izzy passed away March 4, 2016. They had four children together, twin daughters Lois (husband Don Rausch), Linda (husband Joe Hasser), and two sons Mark (wife Sandy Sandleben), Tom (wife Lisa Alexander). Tom passed away at age 50 on April 1, 2009 while waiting for a heart transplant. Mary Ann worked for 40 years as an administrative assistant to the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana. She was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a Den Mother, Den Mother Coach, Girl Scout Leader and St Boniface volunteer. Mary Ann faithfully served as a mother to her children, her 10 grandchildren and her 15 great grandchildren. She was a faithful wife and supporter of every endeavor that the family engaged in. She enjoyed family camping and traveling together. She accompanied Izzy to all his woodcarving shows and workshops. She is survived by her brother Edward Peterson (deceased wife Judith) and their sons James and Jonathan. She will always be remembered for her servant’s heart, her sticky note reminders and her reassurance that “she was always fine”. She is now enjoying her well deserved reward and resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Friends may call at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 318 North 9th St., Lafayette from 4:00 PM until the Rosary at 7:00 PM Sunday October 14. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Church at 10:00 AM on Monday Oct. 15, Fr. Tim Alkire and Deacon Mark Loepker officiating and other priests and deacons of the Diocese of Lafayette assisting. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
