Mary Goad

Mary R. Goad, 84, of Lafayette, died at Indiana University Health, Lafayette, IN. at 11:08 PM Wednesday March 23, 2011. Mrs. Goad was born August 15, 1926 in Jasper County, IN. the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Farrell Shide and was a 1944 graduate of Rensselaer, IN. High School. She married Ralph E. Goad at Rensselaer November 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death December 19, 2002. Mrs. Goad helped manage rental properties and assisted her husband in the operation of his cabinet shop, and enjoyed sewing. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 492, of West Lafayette, IN. Surviving are 3 daughters, Laurie Wigent of Lafayette, IN.; Jane DeCamp (husband Rod) of Monticello, IN.; Rosie George (husband Greg) of Lafayette, IN.; 3 sons, James Goad (wife Dana) of Lafayette, IN.; Lowell Goad (wife Jill) of Pleasant Hill, OH.; David Goad (wife Debra) of Lafayette, IN.; 2 sisters, Louise Shide and Helen Armold, both of Rensselaer, IN. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph Goad; 2 sisters Frances Bufkin and Margaret Goad; and by 3 brothers, Fred, John & George Shide. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from the Rosary at 4:45 until 8 PM Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Wednesday, St. Mary's Cathedral, Fr.
