Mary Gillam

Mary Jane Gillam, 87, of Lafayette, and formerly of Kokomo, IN. died at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette 7:49 PM Tuesday March 15, 2016. She was born in Kokomo, IN September 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Mark and Agnes O'Rourke Conner and was a 1946 graduate of Kokomo High School. Mary Jane married Charles William Gillam at St. Patrick's Church in Kokomo August 26, 1950 and he preceded her December 16, 2015. Mary Jane and Charles moved to Lafayette in June 2013, but had previously resided in Kokomo and wintered in Vero Beach, FL. for many years. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo; loved to play golf, read, and spend time with her grandchildren. Mary Jane and Charles enjoyed vacationing, especially spending time in Canada fishing. She worked in the accounting department for the "Kokomo Tribune" over 25 years, retiring in 1991. Surviving is a daughter, Cindy M. Good (husband Steve) of Lafayette, IN; two sons, Jeff Gillam (wife Sandra) of Martinez, GA and David Gillam (wife Mary Jo) of Conroe, TX and sister-in-law, Adlene Smith of Radnor, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Eric Good (Sarah) of Indianapolis, IN; Tyler Gillam (April) of Conroe, TX; Logan Gillam, Conroe, TX; Lynda Alexis Gillam of Martinez, GA and Lauren Gillam of Martinez, GA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Don Conner and a granddaughter, Karen Good. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo, IN Saturday April 9, 11:00 AM, Fr. Matthew J. Arbuckle officiating. Private family inurnment will follow at Zion Cemetery at Bringhurst.
