Mary Dixon

Mary JoAnne “Jody” Dixon, 67, of Lafayette, passed away at her home at 10:15 AM on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Jody was born in Lafayette on November 20, 1950, the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Helen L. Dooley McBroom and was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. She married Thomas “Tom” Dixon at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette, and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. He survives. Jody was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and a former member of the American Literature Club and the Jeff Booster Club. She was incredibly generous with her time and patience, and her greatest fulfillment came from taking care of her family and helping those in need. Jody enjoyed being a homemaker and mother, and her home was always a hub for kids in the neighborhood. She was also the bookkeeper for Dixon Construction for 35 years. Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Kristine Dixon (husband Matthew Dalton) of Berkeley, CA; a son, Thomas M. Dixon (fiancé Kara Kennedy) of McCordsville, IN; and four grandchildren, Madeline Dalton, Sam Dalton, Preston Dixon and Kaylin Gill. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Barnes. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Cathedral from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Feb. 27, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Mary’s Cathedral. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home is caring for the Dixon family.
