Marilyn Hurn

Marilyn F. Hurn, 56, of Lafayette, died at Indiana University Health Arnett 2:35 AM Wednesday June 22, 2011 where she had been a patient for one day. She was born in Lafayette October 11, 1954 the daughter of the late Bertrand J. and Josephine Haughn Hurn. Miss Hurn was a graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High school in 1973; attended Purdue University and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Lafayette. She had been employed as a pediatric nurse from 1978 until 2001, first for Lafayette Home Hospital and later with Arnett Clinic until ill health forced her retirement. Miss Hurn was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and enjoyed writing, painting and crafting. Surviving is a sister, Theresa "Terry" Hurn of Indianapolis. Also surviving is a long time companion, Kaira Simpson, and cousins Judy Wagner and Jody (Wagner) Gaines. She was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy J. Hurn in infancy. Friends may call from 10 AM until the service at 11:00 AM Saturday at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette Dr. Carolyn Scanlan officiating with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
