Margaret C. “Dee” Wehrle, 85, of Lafayette, passed away at IU Arnett hospital 5:03 PM Monday January 7, 2019 shortly after admission. She was born February 4, 1933 in Lafayette to the late William M. and Anna Alberta (Beck) Platt and attended Tippecanoe County Schools. Dee married John R. Wehrle at Battle Ground, IN June 1, 1985 and he survives. She was employed for 19 years with the former GTE as a telephone operator, and retired after 22 years with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. Dee enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Surviving with her husband John are four daughters, Merry C. Elliot (husband Sam) of Roanoke, IN; Morrie A. Gardner (husband James) of Belton, Texas; Teresa Reust (husband Arden) of Sylvan Lake, IN; Andrea I. Hale of Carmel, IN; a son, Martin L. Masterson (wife Jan) of Delphi, IN; a brother, Chester Platt (wife Rickey) of Lafayette; and by two sisters, Matina Utz (husband Bill) and Claudia Stinewald (husband Walter) all of Lafayette. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, John Masterson; a sister, Becky Fultz and two brothers, Virgil and Terrell Platt. Friends may call at St. Lawrence Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Monday January 14, Fr. Eric Underwood, Celebrant and Fr. Cole Daily, Concelebrant officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
