Margaret Clifton

Margaret E. Clifton, 93, of Oxford, IN died at Westminster Village Healthcare Center in West Lafayette, IN Tuesday January 19, 2016. Margaret was born in Pine Village, IN January 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence McKinley and Clela Fry Martindale. She was a 1941 graduate of Boswell High School and attended Purdue University, studying entomology. Margaret Married Russell T. Clifton in Boswell, IN October 1, 1943, and he preceded her in death June 24, 2013. She was a homemaker, a member of the Boswell Church of Christ, and a longtime member of the Lafayette Country Club. Surviving is a daughter, Cathy Phelps, (husband Don) of Oxford, IN and a son, Ronald Clifton (wife Cathy) of Scottsdale, AZ. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Derek Stephen (wife Alisha), Renee Petrie (husband Jon) and Chase McKinley Clifton; and by four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Caroline Petrie and Blakely and Cohen Stephen. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Reggy Stephen. Visitation will be held at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford Monday January 25 from 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM, John Morris officiating. The interment will follow at Boswell Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Boswell Church of Christ or the Benton Community Foundation.
