Margaret Lucille "Muggs" Barrett, 85, of Lafayette, IN. and formerly of Ambia, IN. died at Waterford Place Healthcare Center in Kokomo, IN. Sunday January 12, 2014. Margaret was born in Iroquois County, IL September 13, 1928 the daughter of the late John Joseph and Mary Artie Tubbs Grogan and moved to Lafayette in 2001. She graduated from St. Mary's School at Dunnington in 1943 and Ambia High School 1947. Margaret married Hollice H. "Jack" Barrett at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dunnington October 20, 1956 and he survives. She had worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Boswell, IN. for eleven years, and later was employed at Larson's Men's Shop in Hoopeston, IL for 21 years. Margaret was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette; a member of the Wabash Extension Homemakers Club and enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-nephews activities, as well as being a Chicago Cubs fan. Surviving with her husband are two sons, Anthony W. "Tony" Barrett of Kokomo, IN. and John H Barrett (wife Linda) of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 until 7 PM Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette 10:00 AM Friday, Fr. Donald Gross officiating, with interment following at St. Mary's Cemetery at Dunnington. The family requests memorials to Sacred Heart School at Fowler, IN. or your local food bank in lieu of flowers. Memories and condolences may be left at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com.
