Mabel Louise "Dee Dee" Werner, 82, of Lafayette, died at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Center 3:10 P.M. Saturday December 5, 2009 where she had been a patient since June, 2001. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Cecil and Mable Monger Johnson, she attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and resided in Lafayette most all of her adult life. She married Donald R. Werner in Lafayette September 16, 1944, and he preceded her in death April 3, 1995. Mrs. Werner had been employed at head of housekeeping and activities director at Heritage Helathcare for 20 years. Surviving are a daughter, Devona S. Spitznagle (husband Bill) of Lafayette, IN.; 2 sons, Donald D. Werner (wife Carmen) of Lafayette, IN.; James C. Werner (wife Karen) of Delphi, IN.; a sister Elaine McMurry of West Lafayette, IN.; and a brother, Jimmy Johnson of West Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Dennis Werner, a sister and 2 brothers. Services will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday in the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel, Pastor Chad Schuitema officiating.
