Mabel Peterson

Mabel B. Peterson, 95, of Locust Grove, Georgia, and formerly of Linden, IN. died Thursday August 11, 2011 at the residence of her daughter, Karen Blue, where she had resided since December of 2007. Mrs. Peterson was born in Mudlick, KY. January 25, 1916, the daughter of the late William F. and Ella Shirley Martin, and was a graduate of Thompkinsville, KY. High School. She first married Wallace Hood, and he preceded her in death in 1957. She then married John E. Peterson in Columbus, Georgia January 25, 1967, and he preceded her in death June 12, 1992. Mrs. Peterson was a telephone operator for the Linden telephone switchboard and had also worked as a cook at Linden High School. She was a former member of the Thompkinsville Baptist Church, and while residing in Linden, a member of the Linden United Methodist Church. Surviving are 3 daughters, Sondra Shull (husband Dick) of Fowler, IN.; Wilma Abdon (husband Don) of Greenwood, IN.; and Karen Blue (husband James) of Locust Grove, GA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William D. Martin; a grandson, Kyle Taylor; a granddaughter, Anita Stockwell, and a niece. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Linden, from noon until the service at 1:00 PM Monday, Rev.
