Lucienne Lehnen

Lucienne J. “Lucy” Lehnen, 91, of Lafayette, died at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, IN Sunday September 17, 2017 where she had resided the past six and a half years. She was born in LouVain, Belgium November 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Jean A. VanDerbourght VanVaerenbergh and was a graduate of LouVain High School and the University of LouVain. Lucy married Robert F. “Bob” Lehnen in LouVain, Belgium October 26, 1945, and he preceded her in death April 30, 2005. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Lafayette, and had tutored students at St. Boniface School in the 70’s and 80’s. Lucy also assisted many immigrant ladies to acclimate to life in the United States. She was employed as a secretary, bookkeeper and treasurer for many years at Snyder & Lehnen Sheet Metal, retiring in 2008. Surviving are three sons, Louis C. Lehnen (Patricia) of Lafayette, Alfred P. Lehnen of Madison, WI and Robert Michael Lehnen (Sandy Bowen Lehnen) of Zionsville, IN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from the Rosary at 4:45 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church 10:30 AM Friday, Fr. Dominic Young officiating, with interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
