Lloyd J. Crowe, 72, of West Lafayette, died at his home on Saturday March 16, 2013. Lloyd was born on December 11, 1940 in Lafayette to the late James Crowe and Gertrude Davis Crowe. He graduated from Lafayette Central Catholic High School in 1959, and from Purdue University in 1962 with an Associate Degree in Aviation Technology and in 1966 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management.
Lloyd was formerly married to Mary Jo Mann, and they married December 1962 in Layette.
In June, 1991 Lloyd married Malissa K. Biggers Greenburg in West Lafayette, and she survives.
Lloyd retired from ALCOA after 32 years in 1999. During his employment at ALCOA, he held many positions, some of which included: electrical and mechanical engineer, maintenence supervisor, environmental and safety trainer, pack and ship supervisor and arbitrator.
Lloyd was an advocate and volunteer for people with developmental disabilities. He served on the board of directors of the Arc of Tippecanoe County; Wabash Center, Fishing Has No Boundaries, and as president of the board for the past three years of Arc of Indiana.
He was instrumental in starting the Aktion Club of Kiwanis. Loyld was active in Special Olympics, and served on the Wabash Center's Human Rights and the Indiana State Mentality Review committees. The community recognized Lloyd's contributions with many service awards.
His hobbies included travel, photography, World War II history, movies, home repair projects and family gatherings, and mushroom hunting.
Also surviving are his children, Christina "Tina" Baumis of Goose Creek, S.C.; Scott "Tony" Crowe (Marta) of Lafayette, IN.; Todd Crowe (Stephanie) of Lafayette, IN.; Bryan Crowe of Lafayette, IN.; Brad Greenburg (Kris) of Chicago, IL.; Stacy Neal (Doug Moore) of Lafayette, IN.; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Floyd Crowe (Marsha) of Lafayette, IN. and Clarence Crowe (Mary) of Mulberry, IN. Lloyd was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edwin Crowe.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 to 8 pm Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
