Leslie Armstrong

Leslie Armstrong, 86, of Colfax, and formerly of Lafayette, died at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Center 6:10 P.M. Friday May 30, 2008, where he had been a patient for the past year and a half. Born December 10, 1921 in Indianapolis, the son of the late John and Alvergie Simpson Armstrong, he attended Indianapolis schools. He married Viola Ade in Lafayette June 6, 1948, and she preceded him in death September 17, 1976. He then married Sahara I. Sheldon at Frankfort, Indiana August 12, 1978, and she survives. Mr. Armstrong was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in both World War II and Korea. He had previously worked as a dental technician for the former Risk Dental Clinic, and had also been an agent for Western-Southern Insurance. Co. From 1958 until 1990, he was an agent for Allstate Insurance. Mr. Armstrong was baptized into the Christian Faith in January 2006, and was a member of Amreican Legion Post 11 in Lafayette. Surviving beside his wife is a son, Rev. John W. Armstrong (wife Harriet) of Columbus, IN.; a brother, Herbert Armstrong of Reelsville, IN.; 3 sisters, Elsie Hunt, Alberta Hartl and Loretta Anderson, all of Indianapolis, and 2 half sisters, Carolyn Snyder and Marilyn Bell, both of Indianapolis. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNEAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 until 7 P.M. Monday. Funeral services at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Rev. John W. Armstrong officiating, with interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Ann & Ivana Armstrong and Nathan, Bonnie & Peter Stockwell.
