Leonard Gath, Jr

Leonard A. Gath, Jr., 75, of Lafayette, died at Regency Place in Lafayette 6:15 AM Sunday October 19, 2008 of complications from a prolonged illness. He was born January 13, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Leonard A. and Ruth Miller Gath, Sr. and was a graduate of Pine Village High School in 1951.
Leonard lived the majority of his life in the Lafayette area employed as a production worker at Brown Rubber Company and Fairfield Manufacturing; a maintenance repairman at Beau Jardin Apartments; and as a heating and air conditioning repairman with Korschot's Heating and Cooling. He also owned his own custodial services business for several years in the late 1970's. Leonard also lived for a short time in Tucson, AZ., returning to Lafayette in 1982 and was employed at Purdue University from 1986 until his retirement in 1998. His first marriage was to Sally Wagner in 1951, and they divorced in 1955. He later married Donna M. Crutchfield in December 1958, and they divorced in 1976. On April 1, 1989, he married Lorinelle Hinds Campbell, and she survives.
Mr. Gath was a member of the Eastwoods Christian Church. Surviving with his wife are 3 daughters, Linda M. Wiegand (husband Gerry) of Lafayette; Lori A. Gath of Lafayette and Debbie; a son, Leonard A. Gath III (wife Sheena) of Lafayette; 2 step-daughters, Debra Smith of Stockwell, IN.; Sherry Massengill of Otterbein, IN.; and 2 step-sons, Dale Campbell (wife Sandra) of West Lafayette and Gregory Campbell (wife Ann) of Romney, IN. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., from 4 until 7 PM Tuesday. Funeral services at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME 11:00 AM Wednesday, Pastors William Seabald and Rich McQuinn officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; 10 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Steven Gath and step-father, Frank Sikes.
