Leona Baker

Leona A. Baker, 91, of West Lafayette, IN. died at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette, IN. at 11:04 AM Thursday December 30, 2010. She had resided in West Lafayette at University Place the past 6 years, moving from Galion, Ohio where she had lived for many years. Mrs. Baker was born January 5, 1919 in Morrow County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma Long Windbigler, and was a graduate of Lexington High School in Lexington, Ohio. She married Donald S. Baker in Morrow County, Ohio August 30, 1940 and he preceded her in death February 17, 2006. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galion, a former 4-H advisor, and enjoyed sewing and knitting. Surviving is a daughter, Pat A. Baker of Lafayette, IN. and a son, Keith D. Baker of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Also surviving are2 grandchildren, Scott Baker of Kennewick, WA. Stacey Baker of Olympia, WA; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan & Tyler Baker of Kennewick, WA. And a sister-in-law, Gertrude Windbigler, along with many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion, OH. from noon until the service at 1:00 PM Tuesday Jan. 4, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
