Kenneth E. Chapman, Sr., 63, of Lafayette, died at IU Arnett Hospital 12:07 PM Monday Feb. 20, 2012 where he had been a patient the past week. He had been battling cancer the past 18 months.
Kenneth was born in Lafayette, IN. June 14, 1948, the son of the late Clyde O. and Virginia N. Newkirk, and attended Wainwright High School.
He married Patricia A. "Pat" Palmiero at Prosser, WA. March 16, 1968, and she survives.
Kenneth worked as a finish carpenter for Cornerstone Homes, and served in the U.S. Air Force from August 26, 1966 until August 25, 1970. He was a member of American Legion Post 777 of Indianapolis.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Angela Fears (husband Don) of Lafayette; a son, Kenneth E. Chapman, Jr. of Brazil, IN.; 2 sisters, Nancy Summers and Kathy Richardson (husband Joseph), both of Brookston, IN.; 2 grandchildren, Tommy Lee Fears and Jonathon Chapman; and 2 step-grandchildren, Twyla and Allen Henderson.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 until 8 PM Monday. Funeral services at the funeral home 10:00 AM Tuesday, Dr. Will Miller officiating with interment following at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with American Legion Post 11 graveside rites.
