Judith Peterson, 75, of Lafayette passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 29, 2012. Judith was born July 10, l937 in Lafayette. She was the daughter of Armin and Virginia (Perdue) Richard. She attended St. Boniface grade school and graduated from St. Francis High school and attended Purdue University.
She married J. Edward Peterson on August 30, 1958 at St. Boniface Church and he survives.
Her career started as the secretary of the Selective Service Draft Board during the Korean War. She, with her husband, was co-owner of Lafayette Travel Trailer Sales for 48 years. She also owned a women's apparel store, House of Dreams by Judith in Market Square for 14 years.
Her true loves were her family and her animals. In the 1970's she raised and showed Shetland Ponies including the National Champion Stud at Hand and three of her ponies earned recognition in the Shetland Pony Club Hall of Fame. In the 1990's, she and her husband raised and showed Bichon Frise dogs all across the US and Canada. She bred, raised and showed the Top Winning Female Bichon Frise, "Gabriella" and the #6 Top Winning Male Bichon Frise, "Rambo".
She loved to travel in their travel trailers visiting dog shows, vacationing and sightseeing. In their recreational vehicles they visited 48 states and also traveled all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and South America.
She was a member of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, the Bichon Frise Club of America, Chicagoland Bichon Frise Club, American Kennel Club and American Shetland Pony Club.
She was a loving mother of two boys, James E. of Lafayette and Jonathan L. of San Francisco, CA. Preceding her in death with her parents was her sister Donna Winters. Surviving with her husband and sons is a sister-in-law Mary Ann Loepker (husband Isadore) and many nieces and nephews
Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, Oct.4, 2012 at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:30 PM. The mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 PM Friday, Oct. 5th at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, West Lafayette with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
