John Skoog

John Junior Skoog, 76, of Oxford, IN. died at St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Lafayette Wednesday Nov. 7, 2012 where he had been a patient since October 2009. He had been in failing health since suffering a lightning strike in 1997.
John was born in Pine Township in Benton County April 2, 1936, the son of the late John Alford and Jessie Mae Brooks Skoog, and was a 1954 graduate of Pine Township High School.
Mr. Skoog married Martha Mae Drake in Lafayette at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church March 10, 1956, and she survives.
John retired in 2003 from farming, and was a member of the Oak Grove Country Club in Oxford, and helped start the Oak Grove Conservation Club. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Surviving with his wife are 3 sons, G. Duane Skoog (wife Susan) of Grencastle, IN.; Rick E. Skoog (wife Michelle) of Radcliff, KY.; Keith B. Skoog of Oxford, IN.; a brother, Norman Skoog (wife Vandene) of Boswell, IN. ; and a sister, Arlene Ashlock (husband Jim) of Lafayette, IN.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Gabriel, Jonah, Rickey and Macayla; a great-granddaughter, Sophia; and a step-great-granddaughter, Allison. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin B. Skoog and a brother, Kenneth Skoog.
Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, IN. from 4 until 7 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday, Guardian Angel Hospice Chaplain Scott Ellison officiating, with interment to follow in Justus Cemetery.
