John L. McGarry

John L. McGarry, born on June 26, 1948, in Westchester County, New York, passed away on November 12, 2024 at the Clinton House Healthcare Center after a long battle with cancer. John’s life was marked by a blend of hard work, loyalty, and cherished memories.

For 15 years, John dedicated himself to Georgia Pacific. In addition to his work there, he also engaged in brick laying and mowing grass, showcasing his hands-on approach to life and work. John was a man who enjoyed simple pleasures. He shared jokes over milkshakes and relished in the warmth of good company. His interests ranged from smoking and playing the lottery to enjoying episodes of the beloved series Stargate. He had a particular fondness for chewy Chips Ahoy cookies.

Described as rough around the edges yet a teddy bear at heart, John was someone who wore his emotions openly. He was outspoken and had a reputation for telling it like it was, never one to sugar coat his thoughts. Those who knew him admired his loyalty to family and friends, as he stood steadfastly by the people he loved. He was particular about who he chose to spend his time with, but if he liked you, he would do anything for you.

John is survived by his friends, Caitie & Emilee, who provided him with devoted care and support throughout his battle with cancer. Though John has departed from this world, he will be deeply missed.
