JESSIE MANGUS
Jessie Marie Mangus, age 77, passed away in Hospice care at 8:55 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where she had resided with her eldest daughter the previous four and a half years. Born in Science Hill Kentucky on February 11, 1935, to Clarence and Mildred Dorn, Jessie was the oldest of eight children and grew up in Jamestown, Indiana, graduating from Jackson Township High School.
Married in 1954 to William (Bill) Mangus, Jessie raised five children and helped raise many of her seventeen grandchildren. Intermittantly employed outside of the home, Mrs. Mangus especially enjoyed driving a school bus for TSC. Throughout her life, Jessie opened her home to members of her family and extended church family. She welcomed visitors with warm hospitality and good food. After caring for her mother with Alzheimer's disease, Mrs. Mangus volunteered as a sitter for the local Alzheimer's Association.
Proceeded in death by her husband, third son, Steven Daniel Mangus, and two grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters Pam Hines of Oak Ridge, Tn. and Gini Belveal of Delph; sons Dave Mangus of Lafayette and Doug Mangus of Delphi; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Visitation one hour prior to the Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home with Stephen Gwin of Louisville, Ky. officiating. Burial to follow at Spring Vale Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be left at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com
