Jean Sturgeon, 85, of Oxford passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at University Place in West Lafayette. She was born November 25, 1935 in Benton County to Bowen and Ella (Jones) Caylor. On December 26, 1953, she married Howard Sturgeon.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Howard. She is survived by son Steve, daughter Cindy Sanow (Ed), and sons Jeff and Doug; grandchildren Jennifer Tauziac (James), Amanda Gleissner (Daniel), Daniel (Ellexi) Sturgeon, Andrew Sturgeon and Jessica Benn (Jeff) and great grandchildren Ahmed, Asiya and Vincent Tauziac and Eli, Theodore and Oscar Gleissner. Jean was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Howard and infant Clyde.
Jean’s life was focused on her faith, family and friends. She attended the Oxford Church of Christ for her entire life. She was a supportive and active worker in Church activities, missionaries, and missions. Jean was a member of the Oxford Musettes and was a volunteer in support of the Oxford Heritage House.
Jean graduated from Oxford High School. She spent a lifetime farming and operating fertilizer companies with Howard. They owned and operated H&J Farm Center and also managed fertilizer plants in Benton County. Jean was devoted to her family, spending many hours enjoying her family and their various activities. She especially like bird watching in her later years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Oxford Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 3, 2021 at 10:30am at the Oxford Church of Christ. Minister Larry McMillan will officiate. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting the family.
