James Eugene Zink, 79, of Boswell, IN passed away at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Lafayette 11:40 PM Saturday December 30, 2017 where he had been a patient the past two days. James was born December 17, 1938 in Otterbein, IN the son of the late Carl and Virginia Biddle Zink and attended Otterbein Schools. He married Shirley M. Lecher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford July 18, 1959, and she survives. James was a former policeman and chief of police in Fowler, a former Benton County Deputy Sheriff, former Warren County Deputy Sheriff and served on the Warren County Sheriff’s Merit Board for over 20 years, as well as being an electrician. He loved gardening, woodworking, sewing, hunting and raising livestock. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Katrina M. Schutter (Jim) of Fowler, IN; Karie L. Rosenbarger (Richard) of Fowler, IN; a son, Terry W. Zink (Lisa) of Oxford, IN; a brother, Richard Zink (Jane) of Frankfort, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Andrew Schutter (Brianne); Brad Schutter (Brittany); Sarah Wilson (Kolton); Tyler and Tanner Rosenbarger; and by eight great-grandchildren, Harper, Kade and Daxon Schutter; Brooklyn, Blake and Brinley Schutter; Ryder Wilson and Maddox Rosenbarger. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Joe and Bob; and by two sisters, Joyce and Martha. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from the Rosary at 3:45 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday Jan. 4. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford, 10:30 AM Friday Jan 5, with interment to follow in the Oxford Catholic Cemetery, Fr. Robert Klemme officiating.
