James Norfleet

James Floyd "Jimmie" Norfleet, 89, of Fowler, IN., formerly of Oxford, IN. and Sebring, FL. died at Green Hill Manor at Fowler, IN. 1:30 A.M. Friday December 7, 2012 where he had resided the past year and a half year.
Jimmie was born in Detroit, Michigan May 10, 1923, and attended Nancy, Kentucky High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army September 9, 1941 and served during World War II as a combat infantryman in the 1st Infantry, (Big Red One) until his discharge February 2, 1946. Jimmie received the Sicilian Campaign Battle Star, Algerian-French Morocco Campaign Battle Star, Rome-Arno Campaign Battle Star, Naples-Foggia Battle Star, and Tunisian Campaign Battle Star; the French Fourragere; the Croix-De-Guierre; the Distinguished Unit Citation with two Oak Leaf Clusters; the American Theater Ribbon; the Good Conduct Medal; the American Defense Service Ribbon; the World War II Victory Medal, and two Purple Hearts.
He was employed at A. E. Staley in the maintenence department, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Steven "Steve" Norfleet (wife Debbie) of Lafayette, and Randy Norfleet (wife Corinne) of Honolulu, Hawaii; and a sister Doris Sparks of Miamisburg, Ohio. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and 2 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Norfleet.
